WHO WE ARE:

Zucker NSLIJ consists of two 700 plus bed tertiary care teaching hospitals with an enormous range of clinical, teaching, and research opportunities available at the regional, national, and international level. Our institution has been at the forefront of ultrasound training for a decade before national organizations made ultrasound an EM requirement.
 

The Emergency Ultrasound Division offers educational opportunities to fellows, residents and medical students in all facets of Point of Care Ultrasound. The goal is to produce experts and leaders in the field of emergency medicine ultrasound.

DETAILS:

 – Our Fellows perform >1000 scans /yr. 

 – Our Residents perform >400 scans. 

 – Our students get an ED experience immersed in POCUS. 

 – We are one of the oldest and most renowned US programs in the country. 

 – We are one of the first CUAP accredited US programs in the country. 

 – We have 15 Fellowship trained faculty. 

 – We have dedicated Scanning Shifts performed by fellowship trained EP’s. 

 – We perform Over 10,000 scans a year —— 100% of all US scans reviewed for Quality Assurance with feedback to the faculty.

BY THE END OF FELLOWSHIP:

  1. Conduct tape review, teaching ultrasound applications to residents and studentS
  2. Deliver ultrasound lectures during residency conference
  3. Deliver a Grand Rounds level didactic on advanced application of ultrasound
  4. Be facile with billing and coding for point of care ultrasound and advanced applications
  5. Be able to set up departmental QI and credentialing for a division of ultrasound
 

 

Students of the Hofstra-Northwell School of Medicine and visiting students are invited to complete  a 2 or 4 week Emergency Ultrasound elective with us to experience some of our fellowship training. Contact sluciano@northwell.edu for details.
