The Wilderness Medicine Club is pleased to report a successful trip to the annual summer meeting of the Wilderness Medical Society. Residents Justin Feuhrer, Cole Gibbons, and Armin Gollogly accompanied Vice Chairman Dr. Sanjey Gupta to Breckenridge, CO to the event. In addition to lecture and workshop attendance (notable topics included management of pre-existing conditions at altitude, ultrasound in space, and an introduction to helicopter assisted search and rescue), Drs. Gibbons and Gollogly assisted Dr. Gupta run a practical workshop demonstrating application of ultrasound in backcountry settings. They also completed a 14 mile hike to Lower Mohawk Lake at 11,860’. Dr. Feuhrer was notably absent from these activities as his time was occupied in classes for his Diploma in Mountain Medicine.

All of our residents are invited to learn more about emergency care in austere environments and participate in engaging activities with our growing Wilderness Medicine Club. We look forward to another educational and fulfilling academic year.
