The wilderness medicine residency interest group is designed to expose our residents to critical knowledge and skills to provide life-saving interventions in austere environments. Our residents will learn unique hands-on and didactic training to explore safety and health risk issues in extreme situations. We aim to combine exceptional educational presentations with skill-based workshops, as well as outdoor field activities as part of our core curriculum. Our members are eligible to become Fellows in the Academy of Wilderness Medicine. Our interest group is led by faculty with expert experience in disaster medicine, search and rescue, as well as wilderness medicine.
Our mission for the wilderness medicine residency interest group is to apply safe medical interventions in unique environments through critical thinking and limited resources.
